Pinocchio

Puppet Design

“Puppet-maker Alicia Britt, [has] created a bang-out beautiful production. The puppets are unusual, complex and mesmerising and appear in every shape and size imaginable.”
Miriam Gillinson for The Guardian

had the wonderful opportunity to design and fabricate 12 beautiful puppets for the ensemble cast of Pinocchio. Adapted from Carlo Collodi’s children’s novel, characters included the Green Cricket, the black bird, the mermaid and Pinocchio himself.

The piece was performed in promenade making fantastic use of the gardens and surrounding grounds at St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden. I would like to give massive thanks for Daryl Worbey and Susan Dacre who came in to support and mentor me as part of the development process. It was this project that first sparked my interest in pursuing puppetry and really honing my craft as a puppeteer and performance maker.
